Toronto Hope Co-Chair

I grew up in Sioux Lookout, ON and am very proud that the Toronto Hope is inspired by the Bearskin Hope Classic Bonspiel in Thunder Bay, which raised over 3 million dollars for cancer care in Northwestern Ontario. Curling has always been a big part of my life and some of my very best friends have come from the curling community.   The amazing women on the Toronto Hope Organizing Committee work tirelessly all year long to make the Toronto Hope not just a 1-day curling event, but also movement of hope and positive energy.

Toronto Hope Co-Chair

I grew up in the village of Wyoming, ON.  Some of my earliest memories are crawling under chairs at the Forest Curling & Social Club while my parents curled!   My early curling experiences have stayed with me and I still enjoy curling for fun, and competitively, today.  I enjoy working on the Toronto Hope, and building some small town community in the big city.  Together we can make a difference and have fun!!

Photography/Social Media

As soon as learned about TO Hope I knew I wanted to be involved. I volunteered to photograph the inaugural event in 2019 and then took on social media. I’ve been doing both ever since. In my time with the Hope, I’ve really come to understand the impact that donor funding has on cancer research and the advancements that Sunnybrook has been able to make as a result. Working with TO Hope has been a way for me to give back to my community in a meaningful way.

Operations

I am a theatre/event production and training professional with an interest in media accessibility. Prior to my recent work in closed captioning, I toured with Cirque du Soleil in production management, organizing performers, crews, and gear, all over the world. After many years on the road, I’m happy to be largely working from home, where I am able to spend time doing crosswords with my partner Tyler, cuddling our cats Kingsley and Martin, AND volunteering for the TO Hope. Working on the Operations Team is like a throwback to her years at the circus (!), but it ends with something better than applause–a big fat cheque that works hard all year long at curing cancer!

Graphic Design

I design the artwork and visuals for the Toronto Hope. I believe that if you have the means, and do what you can, you can make a difference. The Toronto Hope is a group of like-minded people who are doing just that. Together, they we are working to make a difference and I am proud to be a small part of this amazing group!

Partnerships

My Dad passed away at Sunnybrook in November 2021 and the TO Hope spiel has allowed me to give back to this amazing hospital. I joined the TO Hope Organizing Committee in 2023 and assist with the Donations and Fundraising. We work to ensure that this event continues to be a fun event for all and a successful fundraiser!
